The
Wooden
Nickel
Lounge

The Wooden Nickel Lounge, widely known and celebrated for its anonymity, and dislocation from the usual “resort nightlife” (for lack of a better description), is snugly wedged in among the many dwellings at the park’s edge of Killington ‘s ski area. The lounge was opened over three decades ago, and though it’s not the oldest bar in the village, it is certainly one with some old history. Today, its barkeep is a seventy-something fellow with a tired smile and good humor, who patiently waits for the solitary client to wander in with a thirst and a delightful tale or adventure to offer.

The Wooden Nickel Lounge itself has a cheery, old-time ski lodge feel with floor to ceiling windows looking up at the mountain peaks, starry lights framing the sills, a small dance floor, 11 bar stools and several tables and rickety chairs scattered about. If the business is slow, which is a little more often than one may like, customers might be offered a free Bunky-Wax application for their boards.
